Marlene Spalten joined the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay as its President and CEO in October 2012. With an objective of significantly increasing philanthropy in the region, she was listed on Tampa Bay Business Journal’s “25 People to Watch in 2013”. During her tenure, annual grants to the community have grown to more than $20 million while assets held in donor advised funds and endowments have more than doubled to over $350 million.
As a catalyst for community change, the Foundation serves as the backbone organization for the LEAP Tampa Bay College Access Network, has successfully launched major programs including the Mental Health First Aid Initiative, and, in collaboration with other community partners, produces the annual Tampa Bay Regional Competitiveness Report.
Marlene serves on the boards of the Florida Philanthropic Network, the Florida College Access Network, the International Women’s Forum (IWF) Suncoast, and Community Foundations of Florida.
Kory Burkley joined the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay in 2017. He previously was Director of Finance for IMA World Health and a Senior Financial Analyst for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. Kory has a BS in Finance from Creighton University and an MBA from the University of Denver.

Jesse joined the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay in 2018. He was previously Vice President of Strategic Impact at St. Petersburg College, where he served for 12 years in increasing levels of responsibility. He is a former member of the Mayor of Tampa’s Workforce Development Advisory Team, a former Chair of the Florida College System’s Council of Instructional Affairs (CIA), and a former President of the Florida Association for Institutional Research (FAIR). His involvement in the community includes serving as the Chair of the Seminole Educational Ecosystem and a member of the Leadership Council for LEAP Tampa Bay. He holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with an Emphasis in Measurement and Evaluation from the University of South Florida. A recognized influencer in his field, his work has been published, and he has presented papers and presentations at more than 85 conferences. In 2016, he was selected into the inaugural class of the Aspen Presidential Fellowship for Community College Excellence, a rigorous, executive leadership program led by the Aspen Institute and Stanford University.

Sheila joined the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay in 2019 and is responsible for connecting donors to philanthropic causes they care about, facilitating legacy and planned gifts and establishing charitable funds. She also works closely with professional advisors and facilitates complex charitable gifts. Sheila has worked within the community foundation industry for more than 10 years, including as Senior Vice President for Philanthropic Giving with the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties and Chief Advancement Officer at the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines.
Sheila earned her Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy designation in 2013. She is also a 21/64 Certified Advisor. Sheila serves as a board member and peer reviewer for the National Standards for U.S. Community Foundations Accreditation Program. She is a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa with a BA in communications and public relations.

Wilma Norton joined the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay in 2014 and is responsible for building relationships with and among community leaders, influencers and philanthropists. She previously served as the Foundation’s Vice President, Marketing and Communications. Before joining the Foundation, Wilma spent six years at St. Petersburg College as Assistant Director of Marketing and Public Information, helping to direct the college’s internal and external communications efforts. She was a Pinellas-based reporter and editor at the St. Petersburg Times (now the Tampa Bay Times) for more than 20 years. Wilma has a BA in journalism and in political science from Western Kentucky University and an MBA from Florida International University. Denyve Boyle joined the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay as the Director of Philanthropy in January 2018. She has the pleasure of inspiring philanthropy throughout the community by educating and engaging individual donors and professional advisors. She is an experienced, highly motived professional with a strong desire to help people and make a difference. Since 2015, Denyve has held the CFRE credential, which is the only accredited certification for philanthropic fundraising professionals.
Over her tenure as a fundraiser in the Tampa Bay region she has helped inspire millions of dollars in philanthropic support in areas such as: scholarships for students to further their education; for vulnerable individuals to have access to civil legal representation; for our community’s youth to have a safe place to go during out of school hours; and for our Tampa Bay Community to be a more safe, prosperous, and welcoming community for us to all live, work, play, and pray. She earned a BS in Psychology and an MBA from Saint Leo University.

Jennifer has more than 20 years of strategic marketing and communications experience, including overseeing integrated marketing activities such as branding, advertising, video production, website development, social media, event management, public relations, crisis communications, and corporate communications. She is a graduate of the University of South Florida with a BA in Communications. Passionate about supporting the arts, she has been involved with the Gasparilla Festival of the Arts for more than 20 years, currently serving on the Board of Directors. She has also served on the Board of Consultants of The Florida Orchestra and regularly participates in the 48 Hour Film Project. In addition, she has volunteered with Bay Area Legal Services, Tampa Museum of Art, and The Florida Aquarium. Nicolette (“Nici”) joined Community Foundation Tampa Bay in 2019 to assist donors with all of their philanthropic needs. Nici gained experience with community foundations during her time at a community foundation in her hometown in West Virginia. As a licensed attorney, she is currently a member of the Florida Bar Association, Hillsborough Bar Association, Clearwater Bar Association, and the St. Pete Bar. She currently serves as President-Elect of the Clearwater Bar Association Young Lawyers Division, and has published articles on charitable giving in multiple legal magazines and local news outlets. She is a proud alumna of Bethany College in Bethany, West Virginia and the West Virginia University College of Law.

Chuck joined the Community Foundation in 2016 to lead the LEAP Tampa Bay College Access Network, a collaboration of five dozen community partners helping more people attain education and training credentials after high school. With more than 21 years in non-profit leadership, Chuck’s experience includes being a founding member of the Renton (WA) Community Foundation Board of Directors.
He currently serves on the Steering Committee for Thrive By Five Pinellas, the Board of the Tampa Bay Healthcare Collaborative, and is a member of education subcommittees for both the Tampa Bay and St. Petersburg Chambers of Commerce.
