Impact Story – Girls on the Run Greater Tampa Bay

We are proud to see Dana using her “Jar of Joy” full of positive comments and “activating her Star Power” that she is learning at GOTR! – Laura Moore, Executive Director of Girls on the Run Greater Tampa Bay

“At practice this season, one of our girls, Dana, brought in a jar filled with colorful sticky notes and the word “Joy” on the outside of the jar. She wanted to share with the team and this was her story: A couple of days earlier she was outside playing and some of the neighborhood kids were bullying her and calling her names. Her friend (a GOTR teammate) stood by her side and they left.

Later, she and her friend made a “Jar of Joy”, full of positive statements. Now every day Dana takes out one of the statements and reads it to start her day. “You can do it!”  “You are beautiful inside and out!”

We are so proud to see Dana take lessons about “activating our Star Power” she’s learning at GOTR and putting them to use in real life!”
