Welcome to Alaya Tyler, LEAP Tampa Bay College Access Network Program Specialist

LEAP’s newest team member, Alaya Tyler, brings 4 years’ classroom teaching experience to the Program Specialist role, as well as two years in a higher education support role.

Born in New Iberia, Louisiana, but raised in Tampa, Alaya earned an associate degree from Hillsborough Community College and studied Education at the University of South Florida. Her time as a middle school English Language Arts teacher allowed her to create positive, nurturing environments in which her students could succeed.

“I believe in the power of education to transform lives and empower individuals. I have seen firsthand the impact that quality education can have on young minds, and it has fueled my desire to make a difference. Education is not limited to the classroom but extends to the community at large.”

The Program Specialist position will help organize and guide the work of numerous volunteers on LEAP’s Leadership Council and six working groups. Alaya’s communication skills and teaching background will support her work to regularly communicate with volunteer leadership, as well as promote the work of LEAP partners. She will also support ongoing evaluation and research to inform priorities and benefit resource development efforts.

Please join us in welcoming Alaya!
