Tampa Bay Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund

As Hurricane Irma threatened our region, a unique partnership was launched in preparation for what may come. The Tampa Bay Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund is a strategic collaboration of the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay, Foundation for a Healthy St. Petersburg, Pinellas Community Foundation, United Way of Citrus County, United Way of Hernando, United Way of Pasco, and United Way Suncoast. This fund, which builds on one established by the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay in 2008, provides a trusted and reliable way to make tax-deductible donations to local storm recovery efforts. 100% of the funds collected through this effort will be directed to address immediate and mid- to long-term recovery needs through grants to select nonprofits.

Venture Philanthropy Fund

The Venture Philanthropy Fund helps startup, small and grassroots nonprofits increase their impact and capacity and supports innovation and entrepreneurial solutions in nonprofits of any size. Strong focus on underserved populations, those who face economic challenges serving Hillsborough, Pinellas, Citrus, Pasco or Hernando Counties. A vision of doing a lot with little; high leverage, new ideas. Any size organization is eligible, but we listen carefully to quieter voices, who may have no experience asking for support. Examples of possible grants: Mini-grants to fund expanded programs at the pace the organization can responsibly scale. Training to expand the leadership, fiscal and organizational skills of core staff. Access to specialized resources like grant writers, marketing support and financial specialists that could be shared by several organizations. Mentorship and fiscal oversight to support proper stewardship.

Cornerstone Community is a dynamic residential community especially for young adults with disabilities. Cornerstone offers educational and enrichment programs in a faith-oriented setting, while providing a safe place for independent (or assisted-independent) living. Community members primarily lead their own lives in school or jobs. But while not at work or school, Community members can enroll and participate in enrichment activities including educational topics and occupational workshops resulting in certifications, foreign language lessons, bible study, physical challenges, service projects, and social events. These activities are arranged to target varying abilities for participation – customized to the community members living in each house. Cornerstone Community is partially funded through government aid for individuals with disabilities.Your support enables the community members to thrive!
